Sightseeing

It’s the place to be in Sofia – the fanciest street of the city.

A long pedestrian avenue with shops, pubs, restaurants, souvenir stores, coffee places – everything a traveler may need. It is so central to the city that any visitor staying in Sofia will inevitably walk along Vitosha Boulevard – where there is something for everyone. It’s a decent metropolitan pedestrian boulevard – with a great view to the Vitosha Mountain. The walking area is full of people every day – even when it is raining. Tourists claim that Vitosha Boulevard (called just Vitoshka) reminds of La Ramble in Barcelona, but with considerably more charm.

So walk around there and have a beer or wine with a light snack. You can often see street artists. It is truly a vibrant place – all the cafes, restaurants and fashion boutiques make it a must-see – if you are on an active holiday. The rest can sit and drink coffee and watch people – for the street is always packed with locals and tourists. Enjoy spending a few hours walking up and down Vitosha – eat an ice cream, drink a local beer, smell fresh spring air – it is especially splendid in spring.

A lovely central street with a very cosmopolitan vibe, with flowers everywhere, it’s the beating heart of Sofia.
