The forthcoming Slatin section of the metro in Sofia is set to commence in the coming months, as revealed by Stoyan Bratoev, the executive director of "Metropolitan," during the "Electrification of transport - how fast, how far" discussion held as part of the "Green Week 2023" forum.

While a contractor for the Slatina section has already been chosen, some additional time is required to finalize the necessary procedures. This segment will span a distance of six kilometers, accommodating six metro stations. Starting from the Military Academy on Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi Blvd., the route will pass through Geo Milev, Slatina, Arena Sofia, and the Tech Park on Tsarigradsko Shosse Blvd., explained Bratoev, as quoted by BTA.

The chosen route is notably bustling, with approximately 110,000 residents of Sofia living and working in the area. As per the "Metropolitan" head, the projected daily passenger load for the new extension is around 78,000 individuals.
