Location: 10 km of the City.

Airport Overview: 2 terminals: the new terminal (Terminal 2) is for most airlines, whilst the old terminal (Terminal 1) is for low cost carriers and charter flights. The terminals are about 3 km apart, and there is supposed to be a free shuttle minibus between them, but it doesn't run often and you can't find its timetable. Taxi is the only other way of changing terminal.

By Taxi: To the city center ~BGL 6-8 (€3-4)/15 mins, but overcharging of tourists is common. Taxi company OK SUPERTRANS provides taxi services from Sofia Airport. Passengers requiring a taxi should enquire at the OK SUPERTRANS office located in the public area of the Arrivals Hall (in the right corner of the arrival hall) or get an OK SUPERTRANS taxi from the line to the right of the Arrival Hall. By Subway Train

Metro Red Line (M1): Location: Sofia Airport Metro Station of Line 1 is situated next to Terminal 2 of the airport and provides a fast connection to the city centre. A free shuttle is available from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and the Metro Station between 07:00 and 19:00 h. After 19:00 h the shuttle can be requested at the information desk.

Cost: The price of a single ride ticket is 1.60 lev (~0.80 EUR). The ticket is valid for the entire Sofia Metro network, including the transfer to Line 2. Tickets can be purchased from the cashier desks in the metro station or from ticket machines.

Bus #84 from Terminal 1 to Sofia city center: Route: Sofia Airport Terminal 1 - Sofia University, with 16 stops in between. Timings: Every 10 mins during the day, and less frequently in the evening. Runs 0500-2300. Cost: A single ticket costs BGL 1 . Tickets are sold at the kiosk at the bus stop. If you have luggage with dimensions bigger than 60x60x40 cm, you must buy a ticket for it. A ticket for one piece of luggage costs BGL 1. Do not forget to buy a ticket/s for your luggage. Да им се каже, че билетът трябва да се "перфорира" иначе не е валиден.

Bus #284 from Terminal 2 to Sofia city center: Route: Sofia Airport Terminal 2 - Sofia University, with 16 stops in between. The bus station is located close to the Arrivals terminal.

Notes from a Traveller October 2009: Terminal 1 can be reached by bus 84, terminal 2 by bus 284. Their routes are the same in the city, they separate only very close to the airport. Both are very reliable. The distance between the two terminals is about 3 km and there is supposed to be a free shuttle minibus between them, but it doesn't run often and you can't find its timetable. The only other option is taxi. About the taxi service from Terminal 2: 2 taxi companies are now authorized to operate at the ariport, OK Supertrans and 91280. You catch them from the line not in front of the arrival hall but to the right.
