The third line of the Sofia metro starts today from Hadzhi Dimitar R.Q. to Krasno Selo. The trip for the citizens will be free today, and the first trains will leave after 2 p.m.

The transportation will be carried out by 20 brand new Inspiro metro trains with the possibility of unmanned control. Unlike the first two lines, all metro stations on the third beam are secured with barriers on the platforms, and the trains are powered by a special system.

The total duration of the trip from "Hadzhi Dimitar" to "Krasno selo" will take 12 minutes. The new route is expected to serve about 60,000 passengers a day.

One-third of the population of Bulgaria lives in the capital and the facilities offered by the metro are preferred by more and more residents and guests of the big city. EU investment provides people with faster, more comfortable and economical movement, which is independent of congestion and does not pollute the air. Nearly 350,000 people ride the existing metro lines every day. Tourists in Sofia also appreciate the convenience of the subway. In contrast, in Poland, the Sofia metro is directly connected to the airport. No need to look for taxis. You don't have to carry your luggage.

The motors on Metro line 3 are served from the new landfill - "Zemlyane" on the "Zhitnitsa" street. Unlike lines 1 and 2, the motors are the last generation "Siemens" with top power supply. The train traffic control systems are automated, the drivers start the train. A novelty of the metro stations is the glass partition walls of the platforms with places for synchronized opening with the train doors.

On the new line, drivers will have limited functions because the trains have an automatic mode of operation. In addition, the new stations will have glass barriers against accidents with a height of 1.6 m, which will separate the platforms and the train. "The third line of the metro is a new generation, most of the work is done automatically," Bratoev explained.

All tests of the metro stations on the new third line have been carried out, as well as the tests for operation and synchronization of the systems and trains. Sofians will reach Hadzhi Dimitar in 12 minutes from Krasno Selo, and from Poduyane to the center of the capital in 3 to 5 minutes. All stations on the 8-kilometer route are already equipped with safety walls on the platform, the doors of which will open automatically and in sync with those of the trains. And next year they will be placed at the stops of the first metro line.

With the launch of the new 8 stations, the total number of existing metro stations will become 43, and the length of the lines will reach 48 km.
