We are talking especially about people, who are willing to spend money, but are always happy to find a bargain. Furthermore they are people, who have limited expectations about the local cuisine, but they will be well surprised. In Sofia – food is cheap and tasty, choice is wide and the portions – generous – easily enough for four hungry men. For less than £5 you choose from a variety of main courses. All food looks good.
There are plenty of restaurants serving different kind of cuisine. Among the traditional Bulgarian dishes, do not forget to try the Tarator – a Bulgarian variation of the Greek Tsatsiki, then by all means – Shopska Salad, Mish-Mash and Kebapche – a traditional Bulgarian barbecue.
In Sofia you get to eat in a friendly atmosphere – pleasant and non-pretentious, with good service and absolutely amazing food. Despite their somewhat limited English, the waiters are kind enough to explain a number of dishes that you may inquire about and the result is almost always the same: you will get stuffed and all that at very civil prices! Bon appétit!
